Robein PTO Meeting

October 25, 2005

 

President Poleane Knight called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

 

The Treasurer’s report was given.  Nancy Vangunten moved and Jessica Stewart gave the second to approve the report.  All were in favor.

 

The minutes from the September meeting were given.  Changes were made on page 3, the second paragraph.  Sports committee was changed to sports program. 

Then next issue was chairs for the computer lab.  After som discussion Mr. Mueller said if the PTO would agree to pay half the amount, which would be $600, that he would go ask the school board if they would match the amount so we can have new computer chairs in the computer lab.  It was stated that some of the old chairs were a possible safety hazard if not replaced soon. 

Rhonda Britton made a motion to give $600 for chairs in the computer lab.  Lee Ann Potts gave the second.  All were in favor.

Jessica Stewart moved and Kelly Wheeler provided the second to approve the minutes.  All were in favor.

 

OLD BUSINESS-Mrs. Davies had a request from Mrs. Bahnsen to bring an author in before Young Author stories are due to help motivate the kids to write their stories.  The cost would be $1000 for the whole day.  The morning would be an assembly of story telling and the afternoon would be broken into groups.  There was discussion and it was decided to table it.

Mr. Suchocki wanted to know if the PTO would purchase a track canopy at a cost  between $150 and $300.  Rhonda Britton motioned and Nancy Vangunten gave the second to do this.  All were in favor.  This would be purchased from concession profits.

 

Karen Raithel reported that T-shirts will be getting done by Team Works in Sunnyland.  There will be short sleeve, long sleeve, crew, hoodies and denim shirts available.  Prices are still being worked on.  It was suggested to have samples and sell them at concessions during the games.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Terry Newlan asked if PTO would again pay for lunch for those who earned the limo ride.  They would go to Godfathers Pizza and the cost would be $5 per person.  There are 10-15 students going.  Nancy Vangunten moved and Jessica Stewart gave the second to pay for this.  All were in favor.

 

Terry Newlan stated this is her last year as Fundraiser chairperson.  We need a new fundraiser chairperson as soon as possible.  If we stay with Katheryn Beich we need to lock our d0ate in for the fall.  There was discussion on other types of fundraisers.  Cold items like we have done in the past was suggested.  Terry Newlan stated that people have to pick the stuff up the day of delivery as there is no room for cold storage.  Jessica Stewart said whe would co-chair but was not able to do it alone.  Kelli Osborn said she would co-chair with Jessica.  New fundraiser chairpersons for 2006-007 are Jessica Stewart and Kelli Osborn.

 

Deb Ingold reported that we would be getting a check from Boxtops for Education in the amount of $195.  There is no contest at this time.  She reported that there were items in the catalog for the science lab.  Miss Spurgeon went through the catalog and put a wish list together.  Deb will be able to order most of what was on the list for the science lab.

 

Other Comments:

It was suggested that we put something in the newsletter to ask for parent volunteers to help at the basketball concessions.

 

There will be no Santa Shop due to lack of participation.

 

The next meeting was set for November 28 at 6 p.m.

Rhonda Britton moved to adjourn the meeting.  Jessica gave the second.  All were in favor.  The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
