Scientific Method Lab Report Checklist
___ I have
written/typed out the step number and actual wording for each step
before
performing it.
____ For Step 1. I used a
question mark after I asked the question.
____ Step 1: My
question makes sense and refers to what I am actually testing
____ For Step 2. 5-10 facts
____ Step 2: Each
fact must be cited (web address, book title and author, etc..)
____ Step 3: Make sure that your hypothesis is answering
your Step 1 question
____ Step 4: Make sure that this step has Supplies/Materials
used listed
____ Step 4: Make sure that this step has Steps for
Conducting Experiment listed
and
numbered **Do not do in paragraph
form**
____ Step 5: Make sure you write two paragraphs to include
along with your graphs. In the first
paragraph, start by telling whether your original hypothesis was correct. Then, explain the data including the use of
numbers. For example: Our experiment showed that Model C flew the
furthest with a distance of 342 inches.
This was the longest of our three airplane shapes. I feel that it flew the furthest because its
long design caught the wind more and help it to fly further. Model B flew the second farthest at 200
inches. It flew that way because….
Finally end that
first paragraph with an answer to your original Step One question. Example:
Therefore, our experiment showed that color does affect a paper
airplane’s flight distance.
The second paragraph
should be a description of what you would change if you did the experiment
again. This could include errors in
process, location, etc..
Example: If we did this again we would use a wider
room because the plane kept hitting the wall and that did not allow it to fly
its furthest.
____ Step 5: Proofread your graph for spelling,
capitalization, and other errors
Look at the title, labels, numbers, and
make sure all is there and correct
____ Step 5: Make sure your graph contains the correct
information/data
_____ Step 6: Just list the step and be prepared to know
what your final result/conclusion was
_____ Proofread or
ask someone else you trust to proofread for grammar or spelling errors. (Unfortunately I cannot read all 21 ahead of
time to do this.)
