Student Council 2010-11

East Peoria Youth Council collections will be beginning very soon.  Last year we surpassed our goal of $900 and made over $1,000 for the first time in a while.  We hope to beat that total again this year.  Monetary donations will be collected starting Monday, November 29, 2010 and the last day to donate will be Friday, December 10, 2010.  The money goes to help needy families in our area and is a wonderful cause to support.  Thanks in advance for your generosity.

**For those elected, we will meet mostly during lunch time on Wednesdays at school.  We ask that Student Council members either bring their lunches or buy them at school on those days so that they can attend all meetings.  A few meetings and activities will be planned for before and/or after school and those meetings will be announced as that time nears. **

We look forward to getting started with another great year of Student Council!

STUDENT COUNCIL 2010-11

Student Council members are elected by their grade level classmates to represent them in the decision-making process regarding certain Robein student activities.  As a Student Council representative, you are a role model.  Therefore, there are certain expectations and standards you are to uphold.

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 are eligible to run for a Student Council position as long as they meet the conduct and academic eligibility standards, and have served no more than one previous year.  Students whom have served two years on Student Council are no longer eligible to run in order to provide more opportunities for others.

CONDUCT

Your behavior will reflect pride of school, and respect and regard for peers.  Therefore, all Student Council representatives are expected to follow school rules and teachers’ directions.  Any student suspended, or guilty of anything, major or minor, surpassing one major violation during a grading period (see student handbook), will automatically relinquish his/her Student Council position.

ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY

Student Council is an extra-curricular activity.  Student Council members must be able to demonstrate that Student Council activities are not interfering with classroom performance.  Therefore, Student Council members are expected to maintain the following:

1.      C average or better on grade cards

2.      Eligibility List- weekly grade checks are every Wednesday.  If your name is on the list, it indicates that you have a failing grade (F) or one D in a subject at that point in the grading period.  When your name appears on the weekly grade list, you cannot participate in Student Council activities for the following Monday-Saturday.  If you are on the weekly eligibility list two (2) times within a nine week period, you will relinquish your Student Council membership.

RELINQUISHED MEMBERSHIP

If a Student Council representative relinquishes his/her position, their spot will be filled by the Student Council nominee from their class that received the next highest number of votes in the election.  This replacement member must meet all Student Council standards and expectations upon taking this position.
