BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

November 14, 2011

MINUTES

 

1.  CALL TO ORDER  - President Norvill called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

 

2.  PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE   

 

3.  ROLL CALL

 

Members present: &= nbsp; Mr. Eaker, Mr. Klyber, Mr. Newlan, Mr. Norvill, Mrs. Pool,

Mrs. Pott= s, and Mrs. Vangunten

Others present:  Channel 22 Representatives; Mrs. Liz Pennington, parent; 8th Grade Speec= h Team Members:  Katie Pennington, Ka= itlyn Oliver, Lauren Tranchitella, Rachel Hilton; and Dr. Marx, Superintendent

4.  CITIZENS REQUEST/PUBLIC PARTICIPATION  -   Eighth grade Speech Team

   &nbs= p;        Members performed a skit for the Board of Education.

5.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES=

 

A.&n= bsp;   Approve minutes of the October 20, 2011 regular meeting.

 

Motion by Pool, seconded by= Newlan to approve the October 20, 2011 minutes of the regular meeting.  Motion carried.

 

B.&n= bsp;    Approve minutes of the October 25, 2011 special board meeting.

 

Motion by Potts, seconded b= y Klyber to approve the minutes of the October 25, 2011 special board meeting.  Motion carried.

 

C.&n= bsp;   Approve minutes of the November 2, 2011 special board meeting.

 

Motion by Newlan, seconded = by Pool to approve the minutes of the November 2, 2011 special board meeting.  Motion carried.

Motion by Pool, seconded by= Vangunten to approve the Consent Agenda as presented.  On

roll call, the following vo= tes were recorded:

7.  SUPERINTENDENT/PRINCIPAL  REPORT 

 

  1.   We had a large number of spec= tators and excellent basketball games!  We will host one more basketball tournament.  The County Basketball Tournam= ent will be held on December 3, 5, 6, and 8 in the Robein gym.  We invite everyone to support= their local teams.  PTO will al= so be looking for additional helpers for the concession stand during those dates.  Please mark your calendars. 

 

  1.   We also have several active committees.&= nbsp; The Collaborative Learning Committee and Common Core Team are partnerships with Creve Coeur, Dist. 86, Robein, and EPCHS to promote dialogue, offer support, and build a strong cohesive curriculum for East Peoria students. 

 

  1. With the release of 2011 ISAT results, Robein School Improvement Plan for FY12 is currently being developed with inp= ut from faculty/staff members.

  1.   We will again have 2 performances.  They will = be held at 1:30 and 6:00 p.m.   The afternoon performance is for those individuals who otherwise would have difficulty traveling in the evening.

        athletic banners in the gym

D.  County School Facility Sales Tax (CSFST) Meeting in Tremont

E.  Purchased a new HVAC= unit for lower elementary special education (double room)

A.    Approv= e Robein Board Meeting dates for 2012.

  

   Motion by Pool, seconded by Klyber = to approve the Robein Board Meeting dates for

   2012 as presented.  Motion carried.

 

11. OTHER BUSINESS  - none

 

Motion by Poo= l, seconded by Potts to enter into executive session at 6:40 p.m.  Motion carried.

 

12.  EXECUTIVE SESSION  - Personnel Issues

 

13.  ACTIONS AS A RESULT OF EXECUTIVE S= ESSION

 

A.&n= bsp;   Approv= e a 1 year leave of absence as requested by Mrs. Natalie Wendelin during  the 2012-2013 school year.

  

   Motion by Vangunten, seconde= d by Potts to approve a 1 year leave of absence as

   requested by Mrs. Natalie We= ndelin during the 2012-2013 school year.  On roll call,

   the following votes were rec= orded:

NAYS:            Newlan and Pool
