BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

December 14, 2009

MINUTES

 

 

1.  CALL TO ORDER  - President Norvill called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

 

2.  PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE   

 

3.  ROLL CALL

 

Members present: &= nbsp; Mr. Newlan, Ms. Schwader, Mrs. Vangunten, and Mr. Norvill

 

Members absent: &n= bsp; Mr. Klyber, Mrs. Pool, and Mrs. Potts

 

Others present:  Channel 22 Representative; Dr. Marx, Superintendent;

and Mrs. = Bouris, Teacher

 

4.  CITIZENS REQUEST/PUBLIC PARTICIPATION  -   none

5.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES=

 

A.&n= bsp;    Approve minutes of the November 16, 2009 regular meeting.

 

Motion by Vangunten, second= ed by Newlan to approve the November 16, 2009 minutes of the regular meeting.  Motion carried.

Motion by Schwader, seconde= d by Vangunten to approve the Consent Agenda as presented.  On roll call, the following votes = were recorded:

 

YEAS:            = Newlan, Schwader, Vangunten, and Norvill

NAYS: None

ABSENT:        Klyber, Pool, and Pott= s

 

7.  SUPERINTENDENT/PRINCIPAL  REPORT 

 

  1.   All pub= lic schools are now required to have a supervised law enforcement drill ea= ch year. 
  2.   Similar to last year, we will have 2 performances.  The 1:00 p.m. performance wil= l be a dress rehearsal.  Parents, grandparents, and community members who are unable to attend later in = the day are invited.  At 6:30= p.m., we will have our customary evening performance. 
  3.  Christmas break will occur from December 23rd through January 1st. 

  Classes will resume on Monday, Jan= uary 4, 2010. 

  1. followin= g:  During the 1st part, we= will have an overview of PBIS (Positive

    Behavior= al Interventions & Support) with a 30 minute video, discussion, and

    staff surveys.  The second part of our school improvement day activities wil= l

    address = ISAT writing.

    Motion by Schwader, seconde= d by Newlan to approve the 2009 Tax Levy.  On roll call, the following votes were recorded:

    NAYS: None

    ABSENT:        Klyber, Pool, and Pott= s

     

    B.&n= bsp;     Approve Board of Education Meeting = dates for 2010.    

     

    Motion by Newlan, seconded = by Schwader to approve the Board of Education Meeting

    dates for 2010.  Motion carried.
