BOARD OF EDUCATION SPECIAL MEETING

April 21, 2009 at 6:00 P.M.

MINUTES

 

 

1.  CALL = TO ORDER  - = President Norvill called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m= .

Members present: = ;  Mr. Newlan, Ms. Sch= wader,  Mrs. <= span class=3DSpellE>Vangunten, and Mr. Norvill

 

Members absent: =   Mrs. Pool, Mrs. Potts, and Mrs. Taylor

 

Others present:  Dr. Marx, Superintendent; Student #70109; Parent of student #70109; = Mrs. Wertz, Hearing Officer; Mr. Kennedy, Teacher; Mrs. Wen= delin, Teacher; Mr. Snell, Teacher Aide; Mrs. Ulick, Teacher; Mrs. Bare, Teacher; and Mr. Woodward, Teacher

 

 

Motion by Sch= wader, seconded by Vangunten to enter into executive s= ession at 6:04 p.m.

 

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION – Student Discipline

 

ACTION ITEMS AS A RESULT OF EXECUTIVE SESSION

 

Approve to expel student #70109 from Robein School for the remainder of the 2008-2009 school year and the entire 2009-2010 sch= ool year.

 

Motion by New= lan, seconded by Vangunten to approve to expel stude= nt #70109 from Robein School for the rema= inder of the 2008-2009 school year and the entire 2009-2010 school year.  Motion carried.

 

Approve to enroll student #70109 in the Tazewell Count= y Safe Schools Program for the remainder of the 2008-2009 school year and the enti= re 2009-2010 school year.  Enroll= ment and transportation costs for the Safe Schools Program will be the responsib= ility of Robein= School District #85.

 

Motion by Newlan, seconded= by Vangunten to approve to enroll student #70109 in the =

Tazewell County Safe Schools Program for the remainder= of the 2008-2009 school

year and the entire 2009-20= 10 school year.  Enrollment and transportation costs for the

Safe Schools Program will be the responsibility of Robein School District #85.  On roll

call, the following votes w= ere recorded:

 

YEAS:        =            Newlan, Schwader, Vangunten, and Norvill

 

NAYS:        =            None

 

ABSENT:        =       Pool, Potts, and Taylor=

 

 

During the duration of the expulsion, approve that stu= dent #70109 be prohibited from the Robein School grounds befo= re, during, and after school.  Any= and all exceptions will need approval by the administration in advance. 

 

Motion by Newlan, seconded= by Vangunten to approve that student #70109 be prohibited from the Robei= n School grounds befo= re, during, and after school, during the duration of the expulsion.  Any and all exceptions will need approval by the administration in advance.=   Motion carried.

Motion by Sch= wader, seconded by Vangunten to adjourn at 6:35 p.m.  Motion carried.
