BOARD OF EDUCATION SPECIAL MEETING

August 2, 2007 at 5:30 P.M.

MINUTES

 

 

1.  CALL TO ORDER  President Norvill called the m= eeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

 

2.  PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE   

 

3.  ROLL CALL

 

Members present: &= nbsp; Mr. Newlan, Mr. Norvill, Mrs. Potts, Mrs. Schwader, Mrs. Taylor,

and Mrs. Vangunten

 

Members absent:  <= /span>Mrs. Pool

 

Others present:    Dr. Marx, Superintendent; Mrs. Wertz, Teacher; Mrs. Gnehm, Parent;

        Mrs. Ingold, Parent; and Mrs. Sells, Parent

 

4.  OLD BUSINESS AND INFORMATIONAL

 

      A.  Board members and Parent/Teacher Advisory Committee members discussed honor

   &= nbsp;        roll requirements for grades 5-8.

      B.  Discussion of summer maintenance projects.

      C.  Health insurance letter to all ful= l-time employees

 

   &nbs= p;        Mrs. Pool arrived at 5:32 p.m.

 

   &nbs= p;        Mrs. Wertz, Mrs. Gnehm, Mrs. Ingold, and Mrs. = Sells exited at 5:56 p.m.

 

 

5.  NEW BUSINESS

 

  1. Approved the Student/Parent Hand= book for 2007-2008.

 

Motion by Potts, seconded b= y Schwader to approve the 2007-2008 Student/Parent Handbook as amended.  Motion carried.

 

  1. Approve for Debbie Shadid and Sandra Van Beuning to be full-time employ= ees.

 

Motion by Newlan, seconded = by Taylor to approve = for Debbie Shadid and Sandra Van Beuning to be ful= l-time employees.  On roll call, the following votes were recorded:

 

YEAS:            = Newlan, Pool, Potts, Schwader, Taylor<= /st1:City>, Vangunten, and Norvill.

 

NAYS: None

 

 

  1. Approve the salary for a second = shift custodian to be $10.50 per hour, with an increase of up to $11.00 per = hour after 6 months of work.

 

Motion by Newlan, seconded = by Schwader to approve the salary for a second shift custodian to be $10.50 per hour, w= ith an increase of up to $11.00 per hour after 6 months of work.  On roll call, the following votes = were recorded:

 

YEAS:            = Pool, Potts, Schwader, Taylor, Vangunten, Newlan, and Norvill.

 

NAYS: None

.

Mrs. Pool exited at 6:27 p.m.

 

Dr. Marx exited at 6:30 p.m.

 

        &= nbsp;   Board members discussed the Principal and Superintendent Evaluations pertaining <= o:p>

        &= nbsp;   to performance and goals.  This w= as followed by a discussion of salary increase.

 

  1.  Approve to increase the salary= of the Superintendent/Principal to a percentage equal to that of the bargaining agreement.

 

Motion by Newlan, seconded = by Schwader to approve to increase the salary of the Superintendent/Principal to a percentage equal to that of the bargaining agreement.  On roll call, the following votes = were recorded:

 

YEAS:            = Taylor, Vangunten, Newlan, Potts, Schwader, and Norvill.

 

NAYS: None

 

ABSENT:        Pool

 

6.  ADJOURN
