MINUTES

1. CALL TO ORDER President Norvill called the m= eeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Members present: &= nbsp; Mr. Newlan, Mr. Norvill, Mrs. Pool, Mrs. Potts, Ms. Schwader,

Mrs. Tayl= or, and Mrs. Vangunten

Members absent: None

Others present: Channel 22 Representative; Dr. Marx, Superintendent; Mrs. Bouris,

&nbs= p; teacher; and Mr. Jim Almasy, parent

4. CITIZENS REQUEST/PUBLIC PARTICIPATION =

&= nbsp; Mr. Jim Almasy expressed concern about the safety of the school bleachers. His son had a

&nbs= p; splinter removed that required medical attention.&n= bsp; He also requested additional supervision

&nbs= p; of children on school grounds after hours.&nb= sp;

5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES=

A.&n= bsp; Approve minutes of the S= eptember 20, 2007 regular meeting.

Motion by Vangunten, second= ed by Pool to approve the S= eptember 20, 2007 minutes of the regular meeting. Motion carried.

B. Approve executive session minutes of the September 20, 2007 regular meeting.

Motion by Potts, seconded by Schwader to approve the executive session minutes of the September 20, 2007 regular = meeting. Motion carried.

Motion by Schwader, seconde= d by Pool to approve the Consent Agenda as presented. On roll call, the following votes = were recorded:

7. ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL REPORT - none

8. SUPERINTENDENT/PRINCIPAL REPORT

A request has been made to = the school architect to begin the process for needed life-safety

improvements. Interested Board Members may parti= cipate in the building walk through to

gather information. Character Education Breakfast will= be held on Wednesday October

24^th. The Tip Off Basketball Tournament = begins on Saturday October 27^th and will

continue on Monday October = 29^th and Tuesday October 30^th evenings. Lastly, the first 9

week Awards Assemblies will= be held during the morning of October 31^st.

9. COMMITTEE REPORTS

Mr. Newlan stated that the = building is looking good with all of the fall and Halloween

decorations by students.

C. Email from Steve Buttice regarding academics and athletics for future baseball teams

D. Robein Technology Plan was approve= d for 3 years – valid until 6/30/2010

E. Request from Eastside Volleyball C= lub to use the Robein facilities for practices

11. NEW BUSINESS

A.&n= bsp; Approv= e to sell cheerleading uniforms and pom pons that at not being used for $10.00 a= nd $3.00 respectively, on a first come first serve basis.

Motion by Schwader, seconde= d by Taylor to approve = to sell cheerleading uniforms and pom pons that are not being used for $10.00 and $= 3.00 respectfully, on a first come first serve basis. On roll call, the following votes = were recorded:.

YEAS: = Pool, Potts, Schwader, Taylor, Vangunten, Newlan, and Norvill.

NAYS: None

B.&n= bsp; Approv= e to employ Mr. Aaron Suchocki as t= he 7^th grade basketball coach for the 2007-2008 season.

Motion by Newlan, seconded = by Schwader to approve to employ Mr. Aaron Suchocki as the 7^th grade basketball coach for the 2007-2008 season. On roll call, the following votes = were recorded:.

YEAS: = Potts, Schwader, Taylor, Vangunten, Newlan, Pool, and Norvill.

NAYS: None

12. OTHER BUSINESS

A.&n= bsp; Approve to employ Tim Cox to remove= snow at a cost of $35.00 per hour.

Motion by Pool, seconded by= Schwader to approve to employ Tim Cox to remove snow at

Motion by Sch= wader, seconded by Newlan to enter into executive session at 7:19 p.m.

&= nbsp; A. Approve to employ Mr. Steve Levert= on as 8^th grade basketball coach for the 2007-

&= nbsp; 2008 seaso= n.

&= nbsp; Motion by Vangunten, seconded by Newlan to approve to employ Mr. Steve Leverton as=

&nbs= p; 8^th grade basketball coach for the 2007-2008 season. On roll call, the following votes = were

&nbs= p; recorded:

YEAS: = Taylor, Vangunten, Newlan, Potts, and Norvill.

NAYS: Schwader and Pool

B.&n= bsp; Approv= e to allow 8^th grade girls to join the basketball team, if desired.

Motion by Potts, seconded by Vangunten to approve to allow 8^th grade girls to join the basket= ball team, if desired. Motion carr= ied.

C.&n= bsp; Approv= e to ask any girls who tried out for cheerleading last year to join the team.

Motion by Schwader, seconde= d by Vangunten to approve to ask any girls who tried out for cheerleading last y= ear to join the team. Motion carr= ied.

D.&n= bsp; Approv= e to pay $1,000.00 to the 8^th grade basketball coach for the 2007-200= 8

season.
