Others present: Channel 22 Representatives; Dr. Marx, Superintendent; Mr. Vandemore, Assistant Principal; Mrs. Garrison, teacher; Mr. Jeff Kni= ght, representative of Eastside Volleyball Club, and Mr. Ernie Mansfield, representative of Land’s Energy Service

4. CITIZENS REQUEST/PUBLIC PARTICIPAT= ION

Mr. Jeff Knight expressed a desire for the Eastside Volleyball Clu= b to continue to use Robein School facilities f= or practices during the 2006-2007 school year. He stated that it has been benefic= ial for both entities in the past.

Motion by Schwader, seconde= d by Pool to approve the September 21, 2006 Budget and Waiver Hearing. Motion carried.

Motion by Potts, seconded b= y Schwader to approve the S= eptember 21, 2006 regular meeting minutes as presented. Motion carried.

Motion by Pool, seconded by= Newlan to approve the S= eptember 21, 2006 executive session minutes of the regular meeting as presen= ted. Motion carried.

7. ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL REPORT

Assistant Principal, Mr. Va= ndemore, discussed the following:

· Payment from Eastside Volleyball Club during= the 2005-2006 school year

· Form request for facility use

· Form for issuance of uniforms/equipment to students for extra curricular activities

· Update regarding the basketball season and eligibility requirements

8. SUPERINTENDENT/PRINCIPAL REPORT

Superintendent Marx discuss= ed the following:

· Issues of major consideration for timeliness=

· New night-time janitor from Chicago Contract Cleaning

· Achievement Testing during the week of Octob= er 16^th -20^th

Mr. Newlan reported that h= e and Dr. Marx did a building walk-through during October. A revised list of building mainten= ance was presented.

Mrs. Potts presented two p= roposals for blacktop bike path and playground area, with the second proposal includ= ing a half court basketball area.

10. OLD BUSINESS AND INFORMATIONAL

&nbs= p; A.&n= bsp; Electricity rate comparisons between Ameren vs. MidAmerican Energy

Mr. Ernie Mansfield present= ed proposals to provide electricity to Robein School from MidAmer= ican Energy for either a 1, 2, or 3-year contract.

B. FY06 Audit

Superintendent Marx detailed various pages from the audit and annual financial report as prepared by Gor= enz and Associates, Ltd.

C. New ISBE Food Serv= ice Rules to ban “junk food” in elementary and middle

      schools

Superintendent Marx stated = that the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) approved a new ruling to take effect this school year.

D.&n= bsp;   Accept= ance of bid from Turnbull Electronics for installation of fire alarm strobe

     &nbs= p; light in music room

E. Acceptance of bid = from Fritch Heating/Cooling for installation of vent stack in the

      kitchen

F. Report from Mrs. B= are pertaining to the success of the 8^th grade math program

Motion by Potts, seconded b= y Pool to approve the 2006-2007 Student/Parent Handbook as presented. On roll call, the following votes = were recorded:

C.&n= bsp;    Approv= e a contract with Easter Seals for speech therapy coverage during the 2006

      fall semester

Motion by Vangunten, second= ed by Potts to approve a contract with Easter Seals for the 2006 fall semester. On roll call, the following votes = were recorded:

D. Approve to employ = Rachel Laredo as the volleyball coach during the 2006-2007 school year<= /b>

12. OTHER BUSINESS

A. Approve for P.T.O.= to use the school facility for a monthly Market Day

Motion by Newlan, seconded = by Potts to approve for facility use by the P.T.O. for a monthly Market Day. Motion carried.

B. Approve to employ a full-time teacher aide in the 4^th grade classroom, due to the diversity and number of students, for the remainder of the 2006-2007 school year.

Motion by Schwader, seconde= d by Newlan to approve to employ a full-time teacher aide in the 4^th grade classroom for the remainder of the 2006-2007 school year. On roll call, the following votes = were recorded:

        &= nbsp;   Mr. Norvill requested a special board meeting to consider the electric proposal from

         &= nbsp; MidAmercan Energy and formalization of facility use by the Eastside Volleyball Club.

Motion by Newlan, seconded = by Potts to approve a Special Board Meeting on November 1, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. Motion carri= ed.
