Board of Education

Special Meeting

July 8, 2004

 

President Norvill called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.

 

Members present:  Mr. Norvill, Mr. Buttice, Ms. Schwader, Mr. Visocky, and Superintendent Mueller

 

Members absent:  Mr. Dearing

 

Guests:  Mr. Phil Vandemore, Mrs. Rhonda Britton, Becca Britton, Ms. Joliene Cunefare

 

New Business:

            Installation of New Member:

            President Norvill swore in Ms. Joliene Cunefare as the new Robein School Board member. 

            Congratulations Joliene!  We look forward to working with you.

 

Other Business:

            Baseball:

            Mr. Buttice gave an update on the material that will be needed for the infield in order to improve

Robein’s baseball field.  President Norvill is designing and building a new device to properly drag the field.  These improvements will hopefully be done by August 2, 2004, which is the first day that teams are allowed to begin practice.  There has been verification by six boys for their intent to play Robein baseball.  The first game is scheduled for August 16th and the search for a new coach is still underway.  The old bases were found and will hopefully be able to be used along with the purchase of a permanent home plate and pitching rubber.

 

            Board Retreat:

            A board retreat is scheduled for September 11, 2004.  Superintendent Mueller is contacting State

Farm to oversee the morning’s activities.  The time and place are to be announced.

 

            Website:

            The website is now up and running.  It was down due to the lighting storm and therefore we have

two new servers.

           

Executive session:

Motion made by Visocky/Cunefare to enter executive session for the purpose of appointing a new board member to fill the current vacancy and personnel.

Motion voted. Yeas-Mr. Buttice, Ms. Schwader, Mr. Norvill, Ms. Cunefare, Mr.Visocky.

Nays-0. Motion carried.

 

The board entered executive session at 6:30 PM.

 

The Board re-entered open session at 6:44 PM.

 

Motion made by Visocky/Schwader to appoint Mr. Eric Popken as the new Robein School District board member to fill the current vacancy effective July 15, 2004.

Motion voted. Yeas-Mr. Buttice, Ms. Schwader, Mr. Norvill, Ms. Cunefare, Mr.Visocky.

Nays-0. Motion carried.

 

Mr. Popken will be installed on July 15, 2004 at the regular scheduled meeting.

 

Discussion for the possibility of purchasing a new workstation for Superintendent Mueller took place.  The estimates received on

the new desk is in the price range of $3200.

 

Adjournment: 

Motion made by Buttice/Visocky to adjourn the meeting. Motion voted. Yeas-Mr. Buttice, Ms. Schwader, Mr. Norvill, Mr. Visocky, Ms. Cunefare. Nays-0. Motion carried.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 6:51PM.
